On September 16 and 17, 2020, the kick-off meeting of the FRACTAL research project took place successfully. Full of joy, our company has joined this research project and bears a part of the challenge in the project as a potential use case. Led by IKERLAN S. COOP and a consortium of 29 academic and industrial partners, the project will be researched and developed within 36 months. This project has received funding from the ECSEL Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No 877056. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Finland, Switzerland. Additional support at national level from VDI/ VDE-IT has given our company the opportunity to research and apply innovation in intralogistics. FRACTAL or "Cognitive Fractal and Secure Edge Based On Unique Open-Safe-Reliable-Low Power Hardware Platform Node" chooses an alternative approach compared to the well-known cloud computing and aims to perform critical computations, in a timely and energy-efficient manner, through hardware nodes. The cloud infrastructure is used only for data ingestion and storage. Occasional offline data processing to improve predictions and non-critical computing capacities shall support the hardware node. BEEWEN Automation GmbH will demonstrate this technology in a use case. Using AI, a swarm intelligence in a shuttle system shall provide an optimal environment for high throughput and safety.
Am 16. und 17. September 2020 fand erfolgreich das Kick-off Meeting des FRACTAL Forschungsprojektes statt. Voller Freude ist unser Unternehmen diesem Forschungsprojekt beigetreten und trägt als potenzieller Anwendungsfall einen Teil der Herausforderung im Projekt. Unter der Leitung von IKERLAN S. COOP und einem Konsortium von 29 akademischen und industriellen Partnern wird innerhalb von 36 Monaten am Projekt geforscht und entwickelt. FRACTAL ist ein Verbundprojekt auf europäischer Ebene, welches vom ECSEL Joint Undertaking (JU) unter der Fördernummer 877056 gefördert wird. Das JU erhält Unterstützung durch das Forschungs- und Innovationsprogramm Horizon 2020 der Europäischen Union in Spanien, Italien, Österreich, Deutschland, Finnland und der Schweiz. Durch zusätzliche Unterstützung auf nationaler Ebene durch den VDI/ VDE-IT hat unser Unternehmen die Möglichkeit erhalten, Innovation in der Intralogistik zu erforschen und anzuwenden. FRACTAL oder auch „Cognitive Fractal and Secure Edge Based On Unique Open-Safe-Reliable-Low Power Hardware Platform Node” wählt einen alternativen Ansatz im Vergleich zum bekannten Cloud Computing und soll durch Hardwareknoten kritische Berechnungen, zeitnah und energieeffizient durchführen. Die Cloud Infrastruktur dient lediglich der Datenaufnahme und -speicherung. Gelegentliche Offline-Datenverarbeitung zur Verbesserung von Vorhersagen und nicht kritischen Rechenkapazitäten sollen den Hardwareknoten unterstützen. Die BEEWEN Automation GmbH wird diese Technologie in einem Anwendungsfall darstellen. Mittels KI soll eine Schwarm-Intelligenz in einem Shuttle-System ein optimales Umfeld für hohen Durchsatz und Sicherheit erzeugen.
